So I recently wrote a post, “Things that make me happy” so why not flip things upside down and write about all of the things I hate about parenting? 😜
Below includes a list of things that make me question this new life of mine.
I’ve been a parent for about 1.5 years so this list will definitely grow and change but here is my brain dump FOR NOW!
ENJOY!
Waking up at 5am
Waking up at 3am
Waking up at 12am
Getting bitten during breastfeeding
Getting an infection due to breastfeeding
Getting mastitis from breastfeeding
Getting thrush from breastfeeding
Having to breastfeed while having mastitis
Having to breastfeed while having thrush
Having to breastfeed when you feel shooting pain
Having to breastfeed every few hours to keep your baby alive
Pumping your breasts to increase your supply
Pumping to relieve your engorged breasts
Pumping to maintain your supply
Cleaning all of the pumping machine parts
Cleaning all of the baby bottles
Washing the baby’s clothes due to a blow out
Washing the baby’s clothes so frequently
Not knowing why the baby is crying
Teething
Dealing with an overtired baby
Trying to figure out parenting with a partner who might have a different way of parenting
Experiencing a rollercoaster set of emotions due to hormonal imbalances
Experiencing rage, anger, guilt, and sadness
Saying goodbye to your past life and past identity
Not being about to do whatever you want whenever you want
But despite all of that, I still love being a parent.
It’s funny because the majority of the activities listed above don’t exist in my life anymore.
Mostly the breastfeeding ones (thank god).
They were just seasons that were experienced in the first year of a baby’s life.
But now I have to deal with other things like….
Figuring out why the gremlin refuses to eat his meals.
Yelling “no” when the gremlin wants to jump off a high surfaces.
Dealing with a gremlin who refuses to sit down in a car seat.
But those issues are barely issues compared to the first year as a parent…
So YESSS…
It does get better 😉
Shout out to all of the parents out there!!! And congrats to those who survived taking care of a baby for a whole year! One year down, a gazillion more to goooo!!!
