Dear Dada,

Thank you for taking a whole year off for Baby K and I.

I know having to deal with a baby with severe eczema wasn’t really written in the parental playbook, but we did it!!

We made it out on the other end!

I know it was overwhelming and stressful for you to see our baby covered in bloody scratches and blood-stained bed sheets due to his irritated skin.

It was awful for me too but I held in my emotions to keep us strong.

I’ve lived with eczema all of my life so I knew there would be a light at the end of the tunnel.

I just didn’t know it at that time because I had no idea how to deal with a baby with such sensitive skin.

I’m sooo glad we did the allergy skin-prick test when baby K turned 6 months old and how we were able to figure out he was allergic to eggs (!!!), peanuts, and cashews!

It’s WILD because I ate soooo many eggs during pregnancy and started eating a ton during postpartum too and voila! It all makes sense how it may have put his body into overdrive.

I remember trying to cut out EVERYTHING (dairy, wheat, gluten, soy, nuts, etc.) and not knowing what I could eat. It was absolutely bonkers how we had to just test things out and hope for the best.

The skin prick test definitely helped us a LOT! I was so happy I could eat cheese without feeling guilt anymore (hehehe).

Anyway, thank you for taking the time to spend quality time with our baby.

All of the days you rolled the ball in the foam roller and made our son laugh (pictured above).

All of those hours doing tummy-time and positioning his legs like a frog so he could learn how to crawl.

Your constant encouragement and support made him reach his milestones (although I’m sure he would have met them eventually anyway, hehehehe!).

I know you and baby K had a secret code and vowed to not learn the word ‘mama’ for a whole year.

‘Dada’ was his favourite word for a hot second but now he’s on the ‘uh oh!!’ ‘ooh noo!’ and ‘mama’ train.

HELL YA. He finally knows my name is ‘mama!’ LOL

Thank you for also being so patient dealing with my family.

From our 3-month visit to Canada to hosting them around for my sister’s wedding (aka NOW!).

My parents are literally chilling on the sofa while I write this (and you’re currently sleeping, lol).

And now I hear baby K waking up so imma wrap this letter up! Lol

Thank you for your one-year of being the best dada ever!!!!

I know I may be annoying to your core but I also know that you love me (most of the time lol).

I’m sad we don’t get to do anything to celebrate this but maybe I’ll ask my parents to look after the baby for one night.

Maybe?? MAYBE?

They leave soon and you start work TOMORROW so there is very little time to do anything.

It’s okay, we will figure out something.

Time to start my day now and go hang out with the babbling baby!

Goodbye and love yaaa!!

xoxo, knd.

P.S. - I know 2026 will have its new challenges but we will find a way to work out how to raise a rambunctious toddler! WE GOT THIIIIISSS! 💪🏼
