All right, so I admit.

I’m a messy person.

Like super, duper messy.

I guess it probably stemmed from growing up in a really chaotic, loud, messy household where my parents hoarded EVERYTHING.

Like our fridge would never have any space for new items and our cupboards were always filled with snacks.

Honestly, I’m not complaining that we always had family-size bags of chips in the house. Most of my childhood consisted of me hiding in the kitchen cabinet secretly munching on Cheetos. LOL

Anyway, I started reading this book, “The Mountain is You - Transforming Self-Sabotage Into Self-Mastery” by Brianna Wiest and OMG.

I resonate with a lot of the self-sabotaging habits (DAMN!).

But one thing that stood out was that we needed to have a clean space to be more productive.

As a new mum, I focus on spending most of my days with my baby or working on my business, so I often de-prioritise the cleanliness of our home.

My partner is the one who is on top of the housework. He spirals a bit if the yard work isn’t done or if the house is super dirty but I think because I grew up in such a messy house, these things don’t bother me.

I mean, I’m much better as an adult but I do have some bad habits not putting away my clothes right away or having piles of clothes in my room that sit there for days ‘just cause’ (woopsies!).

But after reading that we need to have a clean space in order for us to be less distracted and more excited to complete our daily tasks with more ease…

I think I’ll take some time out this week to do a bit of cleaning!

First up - the crazy amount of clothes I have in my room. Gotta tidy those up!

Then second would probably be the dining room area which acts like our home office with screens set-up there. There are just piles random things on that table (e.g. old receipts, snail mail, and trinkets). I know it doesn’t sound like a lot but by ignoring it for so long, I just NEVER get myself to clean that area because it’s not on my “to do list”.

Yenno what’s funny and ironic?

I’m actually typing this out from my car. Lol.

It’s 8:15am on a Monday.

Baby was dropped off at child care and my partner is still sleeping (maybe? haven’t seen him all morning lol) but I ran outside to be away from the messy space to get some time to write.

It’s a beautiful day today so I love having the sun shining in my working space.

It’s actually 13 degrees outside today so it’s COLD and I’m currently snuggled under a warm blanket in the passenger seat (lolol).

I mean, I could have turned up the heat in the car but no thanks. Need to save electricity in this economy.

Now back to you! Have you read the book I mentioned above? What’s your workspace look like? Nice and clean or a lil bit chaotic?

Once again, thanks again for listening to my yap-a-thon.

Have the best day!! <3

xoxo,
knd.

P.S. - It’s actually been a hot minute since I read a book and have thoroughly enjoyed reading it. If you have any recommendations on more books that will help me find my spark and learn to LOVE LIFE and MYSELF again… please feel free to recommend them! Or any books that truly changed your outlook on life in a positive way… I’d love to know! Thank yoooou! :)
