Okay okay, I already know the answer to that.
I’m doing the best I can, blah blah blah.
Honestly, I don’t think I’m a “bad mom” - I mean, maybe I’ll get mad sometimes and give my partner some difficult tasks to handle like settling the baby but other than that, my bubba is super happy on most days and is loving life.
But yesterday my baby and I had a day off together so I was trying to figure out what to do with him.
Should I go to a play centre? Message some moms and see if they’re free for a play date?
ooOO, I KNOW!! Free storytimes at the library!
It’s been sooo long since we’ve attended one so I found one that was happening in the next hour so I decided that would be the fun activity for that day.
I arrived about 8 minutes late (and that’s totally cool with me because there are always late stragglers arriving to storytime).
But when I got to the open children’s area, there were a few parents and babies there but there were no moderators or sing-a-longs happening.
I thought that was weird and assumed the host was a bit late so I just killed a bit of time and let my toddler walk around and find books to read.
I think at one point, I just accepted that the storytime session wasn’t going to happen so I just read more books with my baby and he ended up just walking around the library and exploring.
He walked to the non-fiction section and poked the books around there.
He walked towards the “Crafts Room” where he glanced at a few elderly women knitting.
He walked towards a quiet area where he found someone watching anime and wanted to join in but I quickly re-directed him to leave the area and move onto the next section to explore (lol).
Then we walked towards the rooms in the back and then that’s when I saw it.
A bunch of mamas pushing their prams out the door.
I took a sneak peek into the closed room and noticed there were kids sitting around and colouring.
And in the front was a man packing up his guitar.

I MISSED STORYTIME!!!!
</3
That’s when I realised this library’s storytime wasn’t located in the children’s area like other libraries I’ve visited but it was tucked in the back room away from everything!!!!
I WAS GUTTED.
My mom brain immediately went into blame mode and said, “Ugghhh!! Why didn’t I just ask the librarians where storytime was? Why didn’t I ask anyone??? I can’t believe we missed it!”
Usually I would laugh and just move along with my day but somehow this experience hurt me a bit and I felt mom guilt for a few hours after (actually still feeling it right now as I re-live this story, haa!).
I mean, ROOKIE MISTAKE! But yeeeahhh… I guess I’ll try next week!
I think it’s because I drove all the way there specifically for that storytime and completely missed it. 😩
And this week there would be no other opportunities to visit any other storytimes because my little one is in child care and we have plans on the other days.
Siiiiiggh.
ANYWAY.
I just want to let you know I’ve been writing this story while listening to ANOTHER storytime happening and taking place (at a different library).
It’s currently being hosted in a large, open space and there are SOOO MANY PARENTS AND KIDS THERE!!!
I am experiencing extreme fomo right now because my baby is currently in child care today so I don’t have a bubba to bring.
But omg, I think it’s one of the first few times I feel like I MISS MY BABY SOOO MUCH.
Anyway, THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO MY RANT.
Now it’s your turn to share something with me!! (C’mon, this can’t be a one-way relationship!)
Reply to this email and share a funny “fail” story that happened to you this week so we can laugh about our silly mistakes together!
Just remember - we are all humans so it’s okay to eff our lives up (just a bit 😉)! Buahahaha
Okieeee, buh bai now and have a lovely day!
xoxo, knd.
