Okay, holy MOLY. It’s been 2 months since I last wrote on Beehiiv 🫣
And funnily enough the last post was titled, “It’s okay to rest, mama,” so THAT I DID.
Since then, I PIVOTED… AGAIN!
Instead of Skip & Soar being all about mamas trying to find their spark, I decided to go all in and move all of my Moonshot Women vibes (women in tech landing dream jobs) over to Skip & Soar and just combine both brands together!
You can read more on this from this carousel.
I also decided to be a bit delulu and launch a 6-week group coaching program and went a bit ham on the marketing (check out my Instagram - she’s a cutie!).
Clearly not ham enough cause there hasn’t been many sign-ups!
But I actually have gotten a better understanding of my customers a bit more:
Some are travelling during that time so don’t want to join a program where they can’t make half of the sessions - this makes me think launching an evergreen program works better (e.g. start at your own time/pace instead one that’s prescribed to you)
Some prefer personalised 1:1 coaching instead of being in a group setting (e.g. JUST TELL ME WHAT TO DO said one of my clients lol)
Some think the program is created for people who are “new” at job hunting or more junior in their careers (so the senior ones have filtered them out of the process)
Nobody brought up the price which was probably my biggest worry but maybe they’re too nice to say anything?! Haahha
A few business coaches I recently spoke to (prior to launching the program) actually told me to not launch the program if I didn’t have a “warm audience” and I thought to myself, I soooort of have an audience… 1600+ LinkedIn connections, do they count?? (I’ve learned that no, that’s not enough LOL).
Ya girl is going to do something different this time around and actually:
Do research before launching a new product/service
Build my email list to… 100+ readers? 1000+ readers?? Hmmm… let’s go with 800 subscribers by end of September (because lucky number 8!) EEP, SCARY! Btw, right now I have 9 readers to give you some context. 😉
Create more head talking reels (I mean I wanted to but I was sick for like a week leading up to the launch so that flew out the window!).
Share more controversial opinions (I don’t want to be just another career coach, sooo get ready!)
Understand my customers better before making more delulu decisions 😜
Go to more in-person events (I recently went to some and LOVED THEM!) - idk what it is but it was refreshing seeing real humans + learning about all of the cool projects they were working on (it’s tough being a solopreneur sometimes - just hanging out with my toddler and AI sometimes!)
Aaand provide more value in these newsletters and share them more consistently!
Fortnightly sounds doable and sustainable but weekly sounds fun too ‘cause this girl loves to yap (+ write!), hehe.
And if you have any ideas on what I should share here, feel free to let me know!
All right, that’s enough from me. Thanks for listening to my yap-a-thon!
To those based in Australia, have a lovely long weekend!!
xo, Kim
P.S. - I’m thinking of building a community of avid side questers (aka people working on cool projects outside their 9-5 + trying to find ways to make money!)… if that’s something you’re interested in joining, reply to this email and let me know!
